    Description

Flag of Vietnam, 1979 dated ORIGINAL manufactured in the Soviet Union.
This is GUARANTEED 100% ORIGINAL FLAG made in 1979, not a recent replica!
The flag is made in exact same manner as Soviet naval flags, a pattern immediately recognizable to any Soviet flag collector. An impressive size, 54" long, 34" tall. Made in red Wool Bunting having factory printed gold star emblem of Communist Vietnam, with rough grey cloth on one end holding the rope used to attach the flag to a line on the mast. This type of flags was specifically designed for naval or maritime use only, not for dry land. The cloth has printed Soviet manufacturing standard code (GOST 8498-73) and the date of manufacture "1979".
The 1979 date is very significant: this is the year of the Sino-Vietnam war which was fought after Vietnam invaded Cambodia and overthrew the genocidal regime of Pol Pot. Since Vietnam was a Soviet client state, the Chinese viewed this as dangerous spread of Soviet influence in Indo-China and replied by invading the northern provinces of Vietnam. Although the war ended inconclusively, the Chinese convincingly demonstrated that they were capable of checking Soviet ambitions.
The flag is in VERY GOOD condition. Shows storage age only and just a couple of very small moth bites, otherwise mint: free of soiling, wear or other damage of any kind.
This is about as good an example as one can ever hope to find! Don't miss this extremely rare and historically significant flag!
